Why choose YarnArt Mohair Trendy?
  • Half-Mohair Blend: Mohair Trendy is 50% mohair and 50% acrylic with 220 m per 100 g ball; YarnArt rates it light (DK) for 5 mm needles or a 5.5 mm hook, at 18 stitches per 10 cm.
  • Fluffy, Low-Shedding Halo: Makers say it knits evenly and easily, with a fluffy halo that sheds very little; most find it soft, though a few feel a slight prickle, as with most mohair.
  • Airy Sweaters and Cardigans: The halo fills open fabric, so loose-gauge oversized sweaters, cardigans and scarves stay warm but light; YarnArt plans about 500 g for a sweater. Hand wash at 30°C and never iron.
Description

YarnArt Mohair Trendy – The Rich 50% Mohair Blend

YarnArt Mohair Trendy elevates the standard for winter knits with its impressive 50% Mohair content. Unlike thinner lace-weight mohairs, this is a substantial DK-weight yarn that knits up quickly into warm, fluffy garments. The high percentage of mohair creates a thick, luxurious halo that traps warmth, while the premium acrylic adds durability and keeps the shape of your sweaters and cardigans.

💡 Style Tip: Because this yarn is thicker (DK weight) than traditional thin mohair, you don't need to double it! If you are looking for a thinner yarn to carry along with another fiber, check out YarnArt Silky Royal instead.

Why choose Mohair Trendy?

  • Dense Halo: The 50/50 blend offers a richer, fluffier texture than yarns with only 10-25% mohair. It looks and feels expensive.
  • Quick Projects: Working on US 8 (5 mm) needles, your shawls and sweaters grow fast, making it a satisfying choice for weekend projects.
  • Versatility: It’s perfect for standalone garments like chunky cardigans, but also works beautifully for open, airy lace patterns.

TIPS & TRICKS

Mix & Match: YarnArt's catalogue shows an openwork sweater in Mohair Trendy shade 145 paired with YarnArt Paillettes 8002 for scattered sparkle. If you hold Mohair Trendy double, pull the strands from two separate balls; one maker found both ends of one ball made stockinette bias.

I love this yarn. It has slightly different shades of fibres- adds depth to it. Lightweight jumpers and cardigans look absolutely gorgeous.

It's a good product giving the price. Some hairs fall while I'm knitting but I guess it’s usual with mohair

I am pleased with such softness. I made a cardigan size xxl out of it. And 6.5mm and 8mm rods did not use extra yarn, one-time. I managed 4.5 tokens.. myself satisfied 🤗

I really liked the yarn to the touch, but I haven't knitted from it yet. I think it's a good yarn. It's very mulberry in my hands and has a long hair

About Product

Can you crochet with YarnArt Mohair Trendy?

Yes. Use the 5.5 mm hook from the label and open stitches such as mesh, shells or granny stitch: the mohair halo fills the gaps for a soft, blurred fabric. Mohair fibres grip each other, so ripping back is slow and fiddly. Work a swatch first, count carefully and keep your tension relaxed.

How many balls of Mohair Trendy for a scarf?

Usually 2 balls. A scarf of about 180 × 25 cm in light-weight mohair at a loose, airy gauge typically takes 300–450 m, and each 100 g ball of Mohair Trendy holds 220 m. A wider wrap or a generous oversized scarf may need a third ball.

Mohair Trendy vs Alize Kid Royal 50: what's the difference?

Weight and use. Mohair Trendy is 50% mohair and 50% acrylic in a light (DK) weight, made to knit on its own for sweaters, cardigans and scarves on 5 mm needles. Alize Kid Royal 50 is a lace-weight kid mohair blend, usually held with another yarn to add halo, or knitted alone at very airy gauges.

Is mohair yarn OK for babies?

Many knitters avoid fluffy mohair for babies, even when the yarn is certified, because loose fibres can come off and end up in little mouths and noses. Mohair Trendy is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and suits older children and adults, but for baby clothes a smooth yarn such as YarnArt Imperial Merino is the better fit.
