Rico Creative Make It Flöckchen – Soft Flecks, Held Along

Rico Creative Make It Flöckchen is a fine carry-along effect yarn (50 g / 260 m, 73% polyester and 27% polyamide) with little soft tufts spun into the strand at irregular intervals. Hold it together with your main yarn and those tufts scatter across the fabric as you work — a confetti-speckled, slightly fuzzy surface you simply cannot get from a plain yarn, with no change to your pattern and no ends to sew in. Same idea as the beads in Perlchen and the sequins in Blümchen, only softer.

What is the difference between Make It Flöckchen and Make It Tweed?

Both add flecks to a plain yarn, but Flöckchen's are small soft tufts on a 73% polyester, 27% polyamide thread with 260 m per 50 g, while Make It Tweed carries classic tweed nubs on a viscose, acrylic and polyamide thread with 445 m. Flöckchen gives a softer, slightly fuzzy speckle; Tweed a crisper heritage look.

Will Make It Flöckchen give my knitting a fuzzy mohair-like halo?

No, Flöckchen adds separate soft flecks rather than an all-over halo. The tufts sit slightly raised at intervals along the thread, so the fabric stays smooth between them. For a cloud-like halo across the whole surface, hold your main yarn with a mohair such as DROPS Kid-Silk, or use all three together for flecks on a fuzzy base.

Can I use Make It Flöckchen for a winter wreath?

Yes, hold it together with a chunky white or cream yarn and wrap, knit or crochet a cover for a Rico Polystyrene Half Ring; the soft flecks give a snowy, speckled look. Pin the yarn ends to the flat back as you go. The 15 cm ring suits a table piece, the 30 cm ring a front door.

Which main yarn colours work with Make It Flöckchen?
