Why choose Alize Lanagold Classic?
  • Half-Wool Aran Weight: Lanagold Classic blends 49% wool with 51% acrylic at 240 m per 100 g, giving real wool warmth in an aran/worsted yarn for 4–6 mm needles or a 3–4.5 mm hook.
  • Crisp, Even Stitches: Its firm, plied twist sits neatly on the needle and holds up to being ripped back and reknit, so cables, ribbing and textured stitches stay crisp at around 17.5 stitches per 10 cm.
  • Warm Everyday Knits: Sweaters, hats, mittens and kids' knits come out warm without feeling heavy, and the acrylic helps them keep their shape; hand wash at up to 30 °C and dry flat.
Description

Alize Lanagold Classic – The Ultimate Wool Blend Staple

Alize Lanagold Classic is the yarn that knitters trust. It strikes the perfect balance between warmth and practicality. With nearly half wool content, it provides cozy insulation for winter, while the acrylic ensures your garments keep their shape and resist pilling. It’s the "workhorse" yarn of the crafting world, ideal for everything from family sweaters to durable accessories.

💡 Creative Tip: Need something thinner for layering? Pair this yarn with Alize Lanagold Fine – same great composition but in a finer weight.

Why is this yarn a best-seller?

  • Stitch Definition: The yarn is round and smooth, making it exceptional for cables, textured patterns, and aran knitting where clarity is key.
  • Versatility: Its worsted weight is the most popular thickness for a reason – it knits up quickly but isn't too bulky or heavy.
  • Durability: Designed for everyday wear, items made from Lanagold Classic stand up well to use and washing, making it great for kids and adults alike.

I am crocheting a throw for my husband. It is composed of large squares (as shown in the photo) The motif is Irish. The color way is prefect (I was nervous because it is rarely as shown on the screen). The yarn splits very little, and produces a clear stitch definition. It also makes a firm fabric, which was necessary for the purpose of the throw. It will be on his favorite chair, and he will be sitting on it a lot. So I am very happy.

About Product

How many balls of Lanagold Classic for an adult sweater?

Most adult sweaters need 5–7 balls. Each 100 g ball holds 240 m, and a worsted-weight adult pullover typically uses 1,100–1,600 m depending on size, length and stitch pattern, so 1,600 ÷ 240 rounds up to 7. Cabled or aran designs sit at the top of that range. Buy all the balls from one dye lot.

Is Alize Lanagold Classic itchy?

Most knitters find it soft for a wool blend, as the 51% acrylic takes the edge off the 49% wool. People who react to wool may still feel some prickle at the neck or wrists. Knit and wash a swatch, then hold it against your neck for a few minutes before committing to a whole sweater.

Can you felt Lanagold Classic?

Not reliably. Felting works best with mostly animal fiber, usually 80% or more non-superwash wool, and with 51% acrylic Lanagold Classic tends to shrink and fuzz a little rather than form dense felt. That is reassuring for everyday washing, but for felted bags or slippers choose a 100% non-superwash wool.

How many balls of Lanagold Classic for a blanket?

A throw of about 120 × 150 cm usually needs 7–10 balls. Each ball holds 240 m, and a worsted-weight blanket that size typically uses 1,500–2,200 m depending on stitch, so 2,200 ÷ 240 rounds up to 10. A baby blanket of about 80 × 90 cm takes 3–4 balls. Crochet and textured stitches use the most yarn.
