Product details

  • Weight: 100 g (3.53 oz)
  • Length: 500 m (547 yd)

  • Recommended needles: 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm
  • Recommended crochet hook: 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm, 4 mm
Why choose Alize 3 Season?
  • Brushed Mohair Blend: Alize 3 Season blends 51% acrylic, 25% mohair and 24% wool into a fine brushed strand with 500 m per 100 g, giving a soft mohair halo while the acrylic and wool add body.
  • Big Needles, Airy Fabric: Alize recommends 4.5–5.5 mm needles or a 2.5–3.5 mm hook, so the brushed fibers bloom into open stitches. Like all mohair blends it clings to itself, which makes ripping back slow.
  • Light Layers, Three Seasons: Use it for loose sweaters, wraps and cardigans for spring, autumn and mild winter days: warm for their weight but never bulky. Hand wash at 30°C maximum and do not tumble dry.
Description

Alize 3 Season – Mohair Versatility for All Year Round

Alize 3 Season lives up to its name by being the perfect yarn for autumn, winter, and spring. This lightweight blend combines the luxury of mohair, the warmth of wool, and the durability of acrylic into a fine, airy thread. It allows you to create garments that provide warmth without the bulk, making them perfect for layering or wearing indoors during the cooler months.

💡 Tip: Looking for a thicker, chunkier mohair look for deep winter? You might prefer Alize Mohair Classic, which has a heavier gauge.

Why choose this versatile blend?

  • Lightweight Warmth: The fine gauge creates airy fabrics that trap heat effectively while remaining breathable and comfortable to wear all day.
  • Beautiful Halo: With 25% mohair, the yarn has a lovely, soft fuzz that adds a touch of sophistication to simple stitches and lace patterns.
  • Excellent Yield: With 500 meters (547 yds) per ball, this yarn is incredibly economical. You can knit a generous shawl with just one ball.

TIPS & TRICKS

Pro Tip: Swatch first and thread a lifeline before lace or shaping sections, because brushed mohair blends grip and are hard to unravel. A smooth metal needle such as the KnitPro ZING circular needle, 80-100 cm, lets the fuzzy strand slide instead of catching.

Reviews about Alize 3 Season

Super

I've shopped with Vilrita for a few years now and NEVER had any issues with postage or quality of yarn. At the moment I'm working with 'Intense Linen', using the linen crochet stitch to make a raglan cardigan for myself and it's working up beautifully. Highly recommend the company and products. 10/10

About Product

Is Alize 3 Season itchy?

Most knitters find it soft, though the 25% mohair gives a fine halo that a sensitive neck can notice. The remaining 75% is acrylic and wool, so it is much less hairy than a high-mohair yarn. Wash a swatch and hold it against your neck before starting a close-fitting sweater; layered over a shirt or worn as a wrap, the halo is far less noticeable.

How many balls of Alize 3 Season do I need for a sweater?

Most adult sweaters take 2–3 balls. Each 100 g ball gives 500 m, and a light adult pullover typically needs 1,000–1,400 m depending on size and stitch pattern, so 1,400 ÷ 500 rounds up to 3. A cropped or sleeveless top often fits in 2. Buy all the balls from one dye lot so the shade matches in plain stockinette.

What is the difference between Alize 3 Season and Alize Mohair Classic?

They share the same fiber blend but not the same thickness. Both are 51% acrylic, 25% mohair and 24% wool; 3 Season is the finer strand at 500 m per 100 g for light, airy layers, while Alize Mohair Classic is a worsted weight for thicker winter sweaters and quicker knitting. Swap one for the other only after a new gauge swatch.

Can Alize 3 Season be machine washed?

Hand washing is the safer choice. Wool and mohair can felt or shrink with heat and agitation, so wash in lukewarm water up to 30 °C with a wool detergent, squeeze gently instead of rubbing, then roll the piece in a towel to remove water and dry it flat. A light shake once it is dry lifts the mohair halo again.
